The Insurance Claims Process:

After you’ve submitted your claim to your insurance company, a claims adjuster will usually be assigned to your claim to investigate. You should receive a phone call, letter or email from the adjuster introducing himself and informing you of the general process their company – your company – follows. The adjuster will review your policy to see what coverage and deductibles you have and evaluate the type and extent of damage sustained.

Potential Problems:

  1. Oftentimes, the insurance adjuster will compute the assessed damages into an electronic program.  The program used by insurance adjusters gives assigned dollar amounts for those repairs needed to bring your dwelling back to pre-disaster conditions.   More than likely, the pre-determined dollar figures in those programs are less than adequate for your full restoration needs.

  2. The insurance adjuster may require at least three estimates from contractors to submit to your insurance company - of which, the insurance company will most likely select the least expensive contractor’s estimates to base the claim’s dollar amount.  Collecting estimates requires time, time you may not have depending on the circumstances & severity of your experienced damages.

  3. The insurance adjuster may miss disaster related damages in his assessment or assign a “patch job” and not grant you the correct repairs to properly fix / restore your damages.

How We Can Help:

Consultation:

By setting a timely onsite appointment with you, we will assess the damages & specify the correct course of action needed to be taken to fully restore your property to its pre-loss condition.

Claims Negotiations:

  • If your insurance company has not sent an adjuster to your home, we will meet with the adjuster onsite to review the damages & agree upon necessary repairs.
  • If you have already met with an insurance adjuster and received a “Scope of Work” (a line item explanation of proceeds from your insurance company), we will review the paperwork with you to ensure you have been compensated adequately.
  • There is no need to spend valuable time collecting estimates from multiple contractors.  We fully negotiate the full costs of your restoration.  The only out of pocket expense to you for full restoration will be your insurance deductible!

  • Some claims are simple; some are not.  Carpentry Concepts will analyze each claim to ensure you are fully compensated for the correct necessary repairs needed in your situation.

Supplemental Claims:

If the initial proceeds from your insurance company are inadequate, we will submit a request for a supplemental claim.  To receive supplemental funds, a readjustment oftentimes occurs (the assigned adjuster will come back to your property to re-assess).  At this time, we will meet with the insurance adjuster to review the damages & agree upon necessary repairs.

Arbitration Services:

The bulk of all claims will be resolved through our standard claims negotiation process.  If a final agreement cannot be reached through the initial negotiation process, you will be invited to resolve any open issues through mediation and potential arbitration.  Carpentry Concepts’ Insurance Claims Specialists have over 25 years of experience of negotiating agreements through mediation and arbitration with 99% success ratings in favor of our clients!

We encourage all policyholders to actively work with us and your insurance company to resolve your claim in a timely fashion.  Don’t sit back and wait; contact us today to receive a free consultation!
